|About:||Professor Maria Northcote is the Director of Higher Degree Research at Avondale College of Higher Education in NSW. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education students in the areas of mathematics education, research methods, assessment and HSIE (Human Society and its Environment). Part of her role is to support staff to develop their skills in online teaching and course design, research and supervision of postgraduate candidates. Her work also focuses on creating research opportunities within the institution and developing collaborative research opportunities with other institutions.|
Previous to her current position, Maria was a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of Newcastle, NSW. She coordinated a team of staff known as the Educational Resources Support and Development team in the Centre who are responsible for supporting staff and students in their use of online learning and teaching technologies.
Maria's tertiary teaching incorporates elements of online and offline learning technologies. Her PhD study focused on the educational beliefs held by teachers and students in higher education contexts.
