Admission Pathways

Avondale University offers pathways programs to help you develop the skills you need to succeed at university and entry options to give you an alternative way to be considered for entry into an undergraduate course. Explore our admission pathways and let your Avondale experience begin.

Adjustment Factors

Adjustment points may give you entry into an undergraduate degree at Avondale when added to your ATAR. Such factors include living or attending school in a particular area, educational or other disadvantages, and elite sporting.

Adjustment factors support Avondale's commitment to educating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Indigenous applicants who do not attain the minimum ATAR for entry into an undergraduate course at Avondale may gain admission with adjustment points.

Course Transfer

If you do not meet the entry requirements for your preferred course at Avondale, you might consider applying for a course with a lower entry requirement.

After one semester of study (minimum of two units), you can apply to study your preferred course at Avondale or, in some cases, via course transfer. You may also be eligible for advanced standing to avoid redoing the same units.

Diploma of Business

Avondale's Business Diploma is a higher education diploma and a direct pathway into Avondale's Bachelor of Business. The business diploma is equivalent to the first year of the Bachelor of Business and can fast-track you into the second year of the degree, which means you lose no time.

A business diploma is also a great option if you want to develop your skills for employment purposes.

Early Admission

Early Admission is our early offer program that looks at the results you achieved in Year 11, along with your own unique skills, rather than your ATAR.

Entrance Exams

uniTEST and Tertiary Online Writing Assessment (TOWA) are online tests and occur under exam conditions. The uniTEST and TOWA are open to applicants who haven't met the entry requirements required to receive an offer for their preferred course at Avondale, including recent school leavers and mature-age applicants. Avondale offers the uniTEST and TOWA to domestic applicants and international onshore recent school leavers.

Avondale courses consider the STAT (Multiple Choice) administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), provided you obtained your STAT results within three years from admission.

Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation

Avondale's university preparation course is a direct pathway to undergraduate studies at Avondale. You could start your degree after one semester (four units), and your completed units may apply as credit towards a degree. Consider this pathway to benefit from bespoke academic support, small class sizes and practical learning.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Avondale's VET courses offer nationally recognised competency-based training qualifications, enhancing employment opportunities and providing pathways into higher education.

Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership and Diploma of Outdoor Leadership provides professional training in various challenging adventure activities. Qualifications equip students for employment in outdoor leadership, tourism and education sectors. The Certificate IV and Diploma in Outdoor Leadership give entry into all bachelor's degrees at Avondale.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Home and Community specialisation) is for those wanting employment or starting a career in aged care or in-home care. The Certificate III Individual Support is nationally recognised and is required by most aged care facilities and in-home community care providers. This course can be completed in as little as four months or up to 12 months and will lead to employment opportunities with aged care and home care providers. Once completed, you could do a Certificate IV in Ageing or a Diploma of Nursing (EN/EEN). A nursing diploma attracts eight credit units (one year) towards Avondale's nursing degree.

info Avondale does not offer a Certificate IV in Ageing or a Diploma of Nursing.
