Undergraduate Admission

Whether you are a Year 12 student, a non-school leaver, or want to further your studies, there are many ways to gain admission into your chosen course at Avondale.

To determine your eligibility for entry, select the option that applies to you from the following categories.

Recent Secondary Education

If you finished Year 12 within the last two years, or you are currently in Year 12 and will complete the Higher School Certificate (or interstate equivalent), you may be eligible for direct entry into an Avondale degree using your:
  • Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • New Zealand NCEA Level 3 (with university entrance)

Selection Rank

A selection rank is your ATAR plus any adjustment factors you are eligible to receive. Your offer is provisional if you meet the required selection rank for your preferred undergraduate degree.

info Provisional means you have been accepted into the course with an academic status of probation because you did not meet the minimum entry requirements, but we determined that academic success is possible.

No ATAR?

If you completed Year 12 within the last two years but do not have an ATAR or did not achieve the results required for your chosen course, explore our Admission Pathways.

Equivalent Offer

An offer will be given in an equivalent cognate area if:
  • You were given an offer to study at an Australian University; and
  • The offer was given based on your ATAR, selection rank, or equivalent; and
  • You can provide evidence of the offer; and
  • The offer is not more than a year old; and
  • You satisfy the admission requirements/course prerequisites (if applicable).

Previous Higher Education Study

Suppose you have completed at least two units of higher education study at an accredited university or higher education provider, or you completed an accredited bridging or enabling course. In that case, this may provide the basis for direct entry into Avondale's undergraduate degrees.

Vocational Education And Training (VET)

You can gain entry to Avondale if you’ve completed a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification, such as an AQF Certificate IV, diploma, advanced diploma or the Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC) through TAFE or another Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

info A Certificate III in relevant technology and applied studies teaching area, with a minimum of three years of recent post qualification experience in the industry, could give you direct entry into Avondale’s Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary).

Work And Life Experience

It is still possible to study at Avondale if you didn't receive good academic results at school or didn't finish school, choosing to work or serve instead. If you are 21 years or older and have no formal education qualification, you can apply to sit the uniTEST and Tertiary Online Writing Assessment (TOWA) entrance exams.
