While 2020 presented some now well-known challenges, it still contained a few highlights: While some would say there are no highlights, but for us at ABS we actually achieved a whole lot in 2020 and the ABS team once again punched above its weight:
- Receiving commendation from external advisory committees regarding our work in the teaching, administration, research, and pastoral care spheres.
- Publishing research based on business hubs operating out of our business school
- We undertook quality teaching - even while moving virtually overnight to distance mode.
- Our Bachelor of Business and the new Master of Business Administration (MBA) was successfully accredited for another 5 years
- The BBus will now also offer an online offering, to be rolled out also from 2021
- Our student numbers increased in Semester 2
- There was streamlining of the BBus unit offerings so all majors are now only 6 units
- Which means all BBus students now have the opportunity to graduate with 2 majors from 2022
- The CPA/CAANZ Professional Accreditation Competencies were updated for roll out in 2021
- A book chapter in a book will be published that we wrote (to be released late 2020)
- We also opportunistically did research into the transition of the “Hybrid Office Model” (HOM)
- Attending and presenting papers at virtual conferences, including being awarded a “Best Paper” award at the AFAANZ conference for our research
- We had a student graduate with a PhD
- We also saw another cohort of graduates finish their time with us and begin to explore the next phase of their lives, with some of our undergraduate students already receiving job offers.
- And on a personal note, Lisa survived her second consecutive year of HSC, and both her children now have their licences, all while Lisa finished her second year in a counselling course!
Thank you to all our supporters and stakeholders – we really appreciate your help in our success.
