Understanding the cultural dynamics within organizations is crucial for fostering a thriving workforce. The 2025 Global Culture Report by O.C. Tanner [READ IT HERE] presents invaluable insights, particularly for HR professionals and people leaders in the APAC region. This white paper explores key regional findings related to surviving, thriving, wellbeing, emotional intelligence, purpose, engagement, and fulfillment, highlighting areas where APAC organizations must focus their efforts to improve workplace culture.

One of the most concerning findings is that 43% of APAC employees feel they are in survival mode. This indicates a significant portion of the workforce is preoccupied with meeting immediate needs and merely enduring their work environments. Factors contributing to this include declining talent pools due to lower fertility rates and aging populations, leading to increased workloads and responsibilities for existing employees.

The report also highlights the pressures faced by the Australian workforce, such as employee turnover, labor market fluctuations, economic uncertainty, and increasing demands for skills and wellbeing. Recruitment and retention challenges remain high, despite some easing in key labor indicators. Wage expectations are rising but failing to keep pace with inflation, adding to the stress employees face in making ends meet.

For not-for-profit leaders and managers, these findings underscore the importance of creating a supportive work environment that fosters a sense of belonging and fair compensation. Addressing these deficiencies can enhance productivity and reduce resentment towards employers[1]. By focusing on improving workplace culture, not-for-profit organizations can better support their employees, leading to greater organizational success and a more engaged workforce.

In conclusion, the 2025 Global Culture Report provides critical insights for not-for-profit leaders in the APAC region. Embracing a dynamic and adaptable approach to workplace culture can help organizations navigate the challenges of today’s labor market and create a thriving, supportive environment for their employees.
