Avondale University was honoured to host the Legacy Maker Symposium, a powerful celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Ellen G. White / SDA Research Centre, organised by Pr Mark Pearce, the current Director of the Research Centre and in partnership with SPD President Pr Glenn Townend and Prof. Malcolm Coulson.
This weekend drew hundreds of people together both in person and online, to explore the enduring relevance on today’s generation of the writing and teaching of Ellen G White. Under the inspiring theme ‘Shine Your Light’, the special international speakers included Dr Merlin Burt, Director of the Ellen G. White Estate at the General Conference, Dr Ted Levterov and Pr Dwain Esmond who unpacked powerful ideas of reform, courage, identity, justice, purpose and calling.
On Friday night, Avondale’s university students SALT program enjoyed a powerful message on Legacy, from Pastor Lyndelle Peterson, calling students to live boldly and purposefully for God.
The symposium concluded on Saturday with Pastor Brendan Pratt bringing a fresh and engaging message, reinforcing the weekend’s focus on building a lasting spiritual legacy.
The E.G White research centre ended with a special recognition of the past five directors of the Ellen G. White Research Centre, Dr Arthur Patrick, Mrs Eleanor Scale, Dr Allan Lindsay, Dr Lester Devine, and Dr John Skrzypaszek, for their faithful service and foundational contributions.
This wasn’t just a look back at history, it was a powerful call to action for every generation to become Legacy Makers and continue to shine their light.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online. The full recordings are now available on the Ellen G. White Research Centre YouTube channel so you can experience these powerful presentations again.
