The Lifestyle Medicine and Health Research Centre is entering an exciting new chapter with its name changing to the Health, Nursing and Lifestyle Medicine Research Centre. The updated name reflects the breadth of the Centre’s research focus, recognising the important contribution of nursing alongside health and lifestyle medicine in advancing research, education and whole-person wellbeing.

The occasion was celebrated with a special lunch on the Sydney campus, providing an opportunity for colleagues to come together, reflect on this milestone and look forward to the Centre’s future. The original plan was to enjoy a walk followed by a picnic, but the weather had other ideas! The indoor lunch nevertheless provided a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to connect and celebrate.

Another highlight was the election of Hannah Kent as the nursing representative and early researcher representative on the Research Centre Board. Her appointment will help ensure that nursing perspectives and the voices of emerging researchers are represented in the Centre’s ongoing work.

The name change marks more than a new identity; it represents an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, broaden research perspectives and continue advancing evidence-informed approaches to health and wellbeing. As the Centre moves forward, it remains committed to research that makes a meaningful contribution to individuals, communities and the wider health professions.
