National Literacy and Numeracy Test

National Literacy and Numeracy Test - information for Avondale University students

The Australian Government has introduced a National Literacy and Numeracy Test that Initial Teacher Education (ITE) students will be required pass. (This includes Master of Teaching students though does not apply at this stage to the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)(Birth – 5 Years) Course).

Students are required to pass the test before they are permitted to attempt their final professional experience placement. It is however strongly recommended for all initial teacher education students to consider sitting the National Literacy and Numeracy Test as early as practical to allow time for support and re-sits in the event of them failing a module.

Students are encouraged to visit the official ACER website for further information: https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/

In order to assist students in preparing for this test, Avondale University has made available a free online tutoring system that many have found to be a valuable resource. For access to this or for further questions, please email the Head of Discipline (Education) [email protected].
