Avondale Funded Academic Scholarships

Avondale President's Scholarship

The President’s Scholarship is one of Avondale’s most prestigious scholarships. It is awarded to students from selected secondary schools throughout Australia and New Zealand who demonstrate a rare combination of academic excellence (likely to achieve a university ranking in the top 20% of their state, territory, or country), leadership and service to their school, family, church and community. Eligible recipients may have up to a maximum of one gap year after completing secondary school.
Value: Up to $8,000 over the duration of the course

Avondale Academic Excellence Scholarship

Avondale is committed to nurturing academic achievement. Each year, an Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to all high achieving applicants from Australia and New Zealand. Students must be ranked in the top 10% of the state, territory or country (i.e. receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent of 90+). Eligible applicants may have up to a maximum of one gap year after completing secondary school.
Value: $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) for the first year of study and $1,500 ($750 per semester) in each successive year in an undergraduate or VET course (maximum $6,500).

Avondale International Merit Scholarship

Avondale is committed to nurturing students who excel in academic achievement, music and fine arts, mission outreach, sporting achievement and student leadership. Two International Merit Scholarships are available to international students who qualify and enrol in one of Avondale’s undergraduate or Outdoor Recreation VET courses.
Value:up to $6,500 AUD ($1,000 per semester) for the first year of study and $1,500 ($750 per semester) in each successive year in an undergraduate or the Outdoor Recreation VET courses (up to $6,500).

Avondale Arts Scholarship

Avondale offers up to two Arts scholarships to new students to Avondale, from Australia and New Zealand, who have a passion for Arts and a desire to study a Bachelor of Arts at Avondale.
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study for students enrolled in the Arts undergraduate degree.

Avondale Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching Scholarship

Avondale offers up to five Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching Scholarships to new students from Australia and New Zealand, who have a passion for teaching and a desire to study a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching at Avondale.
Value: Up to $8,000 over the duration of the course. $4,000 ($2,000 per semester) for the first year of study and $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) in the second and third year for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching undergraduate degree.
For the fourth year of study in the course recipients may apply for the Adventist Schools Australia System Needs Scholarship (valued up to $6,000), which also extends into their first year of employment.

Avondale Business Scholarship

Avondale offers up to two Business scholarships to new students to Avondale, from Australia and New Zealand, who have a passion for Business and a desire to study a Bachelor of Business at Avondale.
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study for students enrolled in the Business undergraduate degree.

Avondale Conservatorium of Music Scholarship

Avondale Conservatorium of Music offers a Music scholarship to a new student who has a passion for music and a desire to study a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching course. This scholarship is open to vocal and instrumental studies. The scholarship is awarded on merit, to encourage and recognise a worthy student with demonstrated aptitude and commitment in the area of Music.
Value: $2,000 ($1,000 for each semester) for one year of study for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching course in a Music major or specialisation.

Avondale Education Scholarship

Avondale offers up to two Education scholarships to new students to Avondale, from Australia and New Zealand, who have a passion for Education and a desire to study an undergraduate Education Degree or Master of Teaching course at Avondale.
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study for students enrolled in an Education undergraduate degree.

Avondale Science Scholarship

Avondale offers up to two Science scholarships to new students to Avondale, from Australia and New Zealand, who have a passion for Science and a desire to study a Bachelor of Science at Avondale.
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study for students enrolled in the Science undergraduate degree.

The A S & J W Jorgensen Scholarship

Through the generosity of Pastor Alfred W. Jorgensen, a former lecturer in the Avondale Seminary at Avondale, a trust fund has been established to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to ministry and theology students at Avondale. Applicants must be able to demonstrate eligibility on the basis of need. Up to two scholarships may be awarded.
Value: $1500 per year may be awarded. The number and amount of scholarships may vary from year to year depending on the funds released from the trust fund.

The McDowell Theology Scholarship

Value: up to $1500 per year, up to four first-year scholarships and up to four second, third, or fourth year scholarships are available to new and returning students from Australia or New Zealand who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Ministry and Theology or Graduate Diploma of Ministry and Theology program. One-off grants of up to $1500 may also be awarded.

Avondale Ministerial Training and Scholarship Fund

This fund offers a Scholarship to Ministry and Theology students in the final two years of their Bachelor of Ministry and Theology degree (BMinTh) or for the final year of those in the Graduate Diploma of Ministry and Theology (GradDipMinTh). Value:This scholarship is worth up to 50% of the total tuition fee in a full year.

Avondale Funded Non-academic Scholarships

Avondale Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

Value: $1,500 per year for residential students and $1,000 for non-residential students for each year of study in a VET course and up to four years in an undergraduate course.

Avondale Economic Hardship Scholarship

Sums of up to $2,900 are available to Australian and New Zealand students with demonstrated financial need. The amount available is dependent upon the degree of need and the number of applicants. It is awarded as a one-off grant. Information and applications are available from Avondale Admissions or Avondale's Student Finance Office.

Avondale Service/Leadership Scholarship (New Students)

Avondale offers up to seven Service/Leadership Scholarships to new students from Australia and three to new students from New Zealand.
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study in any undergraduate or Outdoor Recreation VET courses.

Avondale Service/Leadership Scholarship (Returning Students)

Avondale offers up to two Service/Leadership Scholarships to returning students enrolled in an undergraduate or the Outdoor Recreation VET courses, or one of the following postgraduate courses: Graduate Diploma of Ministry and Theology, Master of Teaching (Primary) and Master of Teaching (Secondary).
Value: $5,000 ($1,250 for each semester) for two years of study in any of the courses identified above.

Avondale Summer Camp Discount

Avondale offers an unlimited number of discounts to new students who have worked at a Christian Summer Camp program. The Avondale Summer Camp discount is available to Christian Camp program workers.
Value: Up to $150 per week of work in the form of a discount for up to three weeks.

Driscoll Pacific Islands Student Scholarship

The Driscoll Pacific Islands Student Scholarship has been made possible as a result of the generosity of Linda and William Driscoll, both Alumni of Avondale College of Higher Education. They both served for many years in the Pacific Islands. It was their desire to assist students coming directly from the Pacific Island nations of the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to study at Avondale.
Value: Up to two scholarships valued at $2,000 per year may be awarded.

Duncan–Kranz Choral Scholarship

The Conservatorium of Music at Avondale College of Higher Education offers the Duncan–Kranz Choral Scholarship to a maximum of eight Avondale students who have a passion for music and a desire to sing with vocal ensembles Avondale Singers and The Promise. This scholarship is open to all students. The scholarship is awarded on merit to encourage and recognise worthy students with demonstrated aptitude in and commitment to music.

The Arthur Patrick Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarship

In honour of Avondale's formative influence on Arthur and of his subsequent influence on this campus, it is the wish of the Patrick family to provide opportunity to promote scholarship in one of Arthur's main areas of scholarly interest, Adventist Studies. With this this in mind, the Arthur Patrick HDR Scholarship is made available to Research MPhil and PhD students who wish to undertake research in areas related to Adventist Studies.

This scholarship is only available to students currently enrolled in HDR programs at Avondale College of Higher Education. Further, applicants should have completed the first full year or equivalent of their program, and not yet be undertaking their final year.

The Edith Cavell Trust Scholarship

The Edith Cavell Trust Scholarships are available to full-time nurses, undergraduate nursing students and nurses undertaking further studies to enhance their careers. Members and Associate Members of the NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association are eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded on a needs or merit basis.
Submit applications by: 5.00pm 31 July each year for the following academic year.

King & Amy O'Malley Trust Scholarships

King & Amy O'Malley Trust awards annual undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for students applying for or enrolled in tertiary Home Economics or equivalent programs, such as Consumer Science, Family and Consumer Studies. Scholarships are worth $5000 for undergraduate students and $7500 for full time postgraduate students (also available as part time scholarships).

King Family Scholarship

The Conservatorium offers the King Family Scholarship to students at Avondale College of Higher Education who have a passion for music and a desire to sing with the vocal ensembles, the Avondale Singers and The Promise. All students enrolled in a degree course who are not majoring in vocal music can apply for the scholarship.
Value: Up to two scholarships valued at $500 per student per semester.

NZPUC Education Scholarship and Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) Assistance Grant

The New Zealand Pacific Union Conference (NZPUC) wishes to encourage students preparing for the Teaching Ministry. A tangible way of doing this is to provide financial assistance to students studying Teacher Education at Avondale College of Higher Education (Australia). The purpose of these scholarships is to enhance the supply of Seventh-day Adventist teachers in New Zealand. The NZPUC has two forms of assistance available for students studying for a teaching qualification at Avondale College. There is a Commonwealth Supported Place Assistance Grant of AU$1000 and an Education Scholarship of AU$3000.
