Same seasonal fun, different venue

It’s a move that will bring a fresh touch to a Christmas singalong that grows in popularity each year.

The need for more space will see Avondale Community Carols move down and across the road from Avondale School in Cooranbong to the neighbouring Avondale University.

The seasonal celebration is “incredibly special to this community,” says Avondale School Principal Debra Cooper. So, she’s pleased the change of venue will see the tradition continue “with an exciting new partnership.” It brings carols “right here on the beautiful grounds of our Lake Macquarie campus,” says Avondale University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Kerri-Lee Krause.

While the backdrop to carols will look a little different, your favourite parts of the program stay the same. A feature artist will headline supported by a children’s performer. Chris Sebastian with James Morrison topped the bill this past year, with The Quokkas keeping the kids entertained. Bella Taylor Smith, winner of The Voice Australia in 2021, headlines this year. Children’s music group The Beanies, as seen on ABC Kids TV, will support. Jumping castles and food trucks will add fun and keep you and the family fed. Santa drops by for a visit before fireworks bring the evening to a close with a spectacular bang.Avondale Community Carols at Avondale University’s Lake Macquarie campus is on Sunday, December 3.
