Postgraduate research programs (also known as Higher Degree Research) allow candidates you to develop knowledge and experience within a specialised field of research or learning by completing a significant research project under the supervision of two academic supervisors. The higher degrees by research that are offered at Avondale include the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), both of which are internationally-recognised.
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) enables candidates to apply a substantial body of knowledge to research or to investigate and develop new knowledge in one or more fields of investigation, scholarship or professional practice. The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) enables candidates to apply an advanced body of knowledge in a range of contexts for research and scholarship. The MPhil degree may also be completed as a pathway for enrolment in a PhD. Both degrees are delivered within a Christian education framework and enable candidates to develop an understanding of ethical scholarship principles that are conducive to conducting research in Christian organisations.
