As part of the Bachelor of Business program, students are strongly encouraged to participate in the unit ‘Internship in Business’. Internships offer a unique opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of industry dynamics and professional expectations. Through a minimum of 120 hours hands-on involvement, interns gain valuable skills specific to their discipline and develop essential workplace attributes such as effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Employers increasingly recognise the significance of an internship experience on a graduate’s resume, making this experience a valuable way to enhance employability and launch a successful career.
Business graduates are equipped to pursue a wide range of employment opportunities across all business industries and sectors. Graduates develop skills for employment in the following areas:
Early career opportunities in Accounting include roles such as accounts payable officer, accounts receivable officer, business manager, and accountant. Advanced career experience and qualifications may lead to more senior roles such as financial analyst, financial controller, chief financial officer, financial planner, management accountant, auditor, actuary or consultancy roles.
Early career opportunities in Human Resource Management include roles such as training and development coordinator, HR generalist, recruitment coordinator, health and safety coordinator or employee relations specialist. Senior HRM roles require experience and a combination of strategic thinking, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of human resource principles. Senior roles include a focus in areas such as talent management, diversity and inclusion, labour relations, business partner management, compensation and benefits, and employment relations.
Early career opportunities in Marketing include roles such as market researcher, digital marketer, content producer, social media coordinator, marketing coordinator, event coordinator, marketing analyst, or sales roles. Early career roles provide hands-on experience and an opportunity to explore different areas within the marketing field. With accumulated experience, senior roles can include marketing operations manager, brand manager, advertising manager or chief marketing officer.
Early career opportunities in Business Administration can lead to a wide array of professional roles, with the specific path chosen depending on interests, skills and career goals. With exposure in our business program to Marketing, Accounting and Human Resource Management, this major area of study represents the broadest range of skills developed, preparing graduates for a career in their chosen path.
