The merit-based Shields Music Scholarship encourages a new student with a passion for music to grow in confidence as a performer.
You are eligible for the scholarship if you are a new student who enrols with a music major or specialisation in the first year of the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching courses.
We award the scholarship at census date subject to you:
• Meeting requirements for admission as an enrolled student in at least three units per semester;
• Enrolling in the unit Solo Performance 1, and;
• Completing a successful audition.
As recipient of the scholarship you must:
• Participate in a donor–recipient acknowledgement process initiated by us;
• Maintain an academic status of good standing by passing more than 50 per cent of the units in which you enrol, and;
• Maintain good standing in the community.
As recipient of the scholarship you cannot:
• Transfer or defer the scholarship, and;
• Redeem the scholarship for cash.
The scholarship is worth $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) in the first year. We will apply the money to your tuition account.
Selection for the scholarship is competitive. You are more likely to receive the scholarship if you: audition strongly; provide clear, concise and relevant statements as responses to the questions we ask in the application form, and; apply in Round 1 rather than Rounds 2, 3 or 4.
Round 1: October 14-January 18
Round 2: January 19-February 15
Round 3: February 16-June 7
Round 4: June 8-August 2
