What is Sexual Misconduct?

Sexual misconduct encompasses any non-consensual actions of a sexual nature. It can range from verbal harassment, inappropriate comments, or gestures to more severe forms such as sexual assault or rape. This misconduct disregards the fundamental principle of consent, where any sexual activity should be based on mutual agreement and respect.

Examples of sexual misconduct can involve unwanted touching, advances, coercion, or exploitation, occurring in various settings such as workplaces, educational institutions, social gatherings, or within relationships. It’s important to note that sexual misconduct is not limited by gender, age, or any other characteristic, and it can profoundly impact an individual’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Creating awareness, establishing clear boundaries, and promoting a culture of consent and respect are crucial steps in preventing and addressing sexual misconduct.
