Personal Statement for Initial Teacher Education Courses (PSITE)

To meet the non-academic entry requirements for teacher education, applicants are required to write up to 1,000 words under four specific categories (a maximum 250 words per section). The majority of categories are based on the key capabilities outlined in the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) competencies.

Outline the key reasons you wish to become a teacher. (You may like to consider as part of your response: key people, events or experiences that have influenced you).
Outline your experience working with children and provide examples of how you have demonstrated skills in areas such as communication, interpersonal, willingness to learn, resilience and organisation and planning.
Outline what you believe to be your key personal talents, interests and abilities. Give examples of how these could be useful in a school setting.
