Under Australian Copyright Law, copyright covers more than just copying. It relates to the protection afforded to the creator of original works and also the way these works can be used by others. Students and staff members are likely to be both users and creators of copyrighted material.
There is no registration or cost involved in obtaining copyright protection for original works – protection is automatic for original works that are created in material form by:
It is not necessary for a work to include the copyright symbol for it to be protected. Generally owners of copyright have exclusive rights over their material in such areas as making copies, publishing, performing in public, making adaptations and communicating the work to the public by placing it online.
So that members of the public can have reasonable access to and use of copyrighted material, Australian Copyright legislation includes some sections which allow people other than the copyright owners to use certain portions of copyright material under certain conditions. In addition, Avondale University has agreements with a number of licensing bodies that allow for additional use.

Displaying the notice at copying machines provides legal protection if a client breaches the Act in using the machine.

Some machines, such as computers, are capable of producing both hard copies and audio visual material. In this case both Notice 1 and Notice 2 should be placed on or as near as possible to the machine.
All copies made under the Screenrights Licence need to have a notice attached to them.

Reproductions of works must fall within the limits allowed under the Part VB Licencing scheme.
These limits require record keeping and a search to ensure that no other parts of the same work are currently available online within the institution.
All works within the Course pack must be correctly attributed according to the Moral Rights provisions of the Act.
Where limits are exceeded details of the permission given must be included
If an included work is out of copyright this should also be indicated.
Course Reading Pack Notice
Reproductions of works must fall within the limits allowed under the Part VB Licencing scheme. This includes the institution wide limits associated with an electronic communication.
The CD also needs to be configured so that the copyright warning notice for electronic copying and communication is viewed before access is granted to the work.
