HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

You will learn how to respond to and manage cardiac and breathing-related emergencies through the application of DRSABCD and CPR.
Recommended to be done every 12 months.

This course includes 1 Unit of Competency

Those that successfully complete this course will be provided with Statement of Attainment.

Entry Requirement

• Be 14+ years of age
• Provide Photo ID (in application)
• Provide USI number (in application)

Physical requirements

In this course, participants will demonstrate practical resuscitation skills for a minimum of 2 minutes. This will include kneeling on the floor and performing compression movements.

USI Requirements

To enrol in this course all participants must have a unique student Identifier (USI). CLICK HERE to visit the USI site if you don’t already have a USI. You will need to include this in your application.

Pre-Course Learning and Practical Session

Upon enrolment, participants must complete the online knowledge learning and pass all related questions. This step is mandatory before the practical assessment date. Failure to complete the knowledge learning and questions beforehand may result in exclusion from the final assessment. Please note that re-booking the final practical assessment may incur an additional cost. Trainers retain the right to refuse participation if the knowledge learning and questions have not been satisfactorily completed prior to the practical component of the course.

Face to face Practical

To meet all learning conditions participants are required to complete the practical assessments. During the practical assessments participants will need to demonstrate skills and competency in:

 1. Responding to an emergency situation
 2. Perform CPR procedures
 3. Communicating details of the incident
 4. Review the incident

The practical session goes for a half day 9am-12pm – this time may vary based on group size.
