Jorgensen Theology Scholarship (2)

Through the generosity of former lecturer Pr Alfred Jorgensen, this needs-based scholarship encourages ministry and theology students experiencing financial hardship to continue following their call to pastoral ministry.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the scholarship if you are a returning student who is a baptised and active member of a local Seventh-day Adventist church, intends to enter pastoral ministry and enrols in the:

  • Bachelor of Ministry and Theology course and has completed at least 12 units of the course, or;
  • Master of Ministry course and has completed at least eight units of the course.

Conditions

We award the scholarship at census date if you:

  • Meet requirements for admission as an enrolled student in at least three units per semester (Bachelor of Ministry and Theology) or at least two units per semester (Master of Ministry), and;
  • Demonstrate competence in supervised field education, and;
  • Identify as a person with a disability, as a person from a low socio-economic or rural area, as a person of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or Māori origin, or as a person who is the first in their immediate family to enrol in a higher education course, or;
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Criteria

As recipient of the scholarship you must:

  • Maintain an academic status of good standing by passing more than 50 per cent of the units in which you enrol, and;
  • Maintain good standing in the community.

As recipient of the scholarship you cannot:

  • Transfer or defer the scholarship, and;
  • Redeem the scholarship for cash.

Value

The scholarship—we offer two—is worth $3000 per year ($1500 per semester). We will apply the money to your tuition account.

Selection

Selection for the scholarship is competitive. You are more likely to receive the scholarship if you: provide clear, concise and relevant statements as responses to the questions we ask in the application form, and; apply in Round 1 rather than Rounds 2, 3 or 4.

Round 1: October 14-January 18
Round 2: January 19-February 15
Round 3: February 16-June 7
Round 4: June 8-August 2
